Information

In recent years wood has become an increasingly important landscaping feature. From decking in private gardens to architectural features in public spaces, there is a great demand for colour and advanced protection. It is estimated that 80% of houses in the territory covered by “The Fence & Shed Man”, (Surrey, East Sussex & North Hampshire) have some form of wooden garden feature.
Timber is an expensive and declining global resource, when it is new and well maintained it looks very attractive, if it is left unattended it deteriorates quickly and detracts from the look & value of the surrounding environment

Wooden Product Manufacturers recommendations:

Most product manufacturers, from Sheds to Furniture recommend that their products are treated regularly ,normally the first treatment is required within 6 to 12 months of installation. All sheds & fences, even if the timber has been dipped, require a treatment within the first 6 months of erection.

In our current weather conditions ALL garden timber needs treatment every 3 years, the hotter, wetter, colder the shorter the period between treatments.
Hot weather opens up the grain and allows the sun to dry out the natural oils & sap.

Rain washes out the sap & natural oils from the open grain
Cold weather freezes the water retained in the open wood grain and as it expands opens the grain wider

ITS CHEAPER & MORE ECOLOGICALLY BENEFICIAL TO MAINTAIN THAN TO REPLACE
